Mary Margaret McDaniel, lovingly known as GAM, passed away on October 22, 2023, at the age of 60. She was born on October 28, 1962, in Roanoke, Virginia, to Barbara Anne Blosser McDaniel and William McDaniel. Mary's gentle spirit and caring nature touched the lives of many.
Mary embarked on a career in the medical field and dedicated her years to working in the operating room at Presbyterian Medical Center. Her commitment to helping others was evident in every interaction she had with patients and colleagues. Mary's unwavering compassion brought comfort and healing to countless individuals throughout her esteemed career.
In 1983, Mary graduated from Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Her educational background enhanced her skills and allowed her to provide exceptional care to those in need. Mary's dedication to her profession earned her the respect and admiration of everyone she worked with.
Outside of work, Mary found joy in various hobbies and activities. She was an avid cook and baker who delighted in creating delicious meals.
Her passion for wellness led Mary to explore Tai Chi at the Peaceful Dragon. This ancient Chinese martial art brought balance and tranquility into her life. Through Tai Chi's graceful movements, she found solace amidst life's chaos.
Books were another cherished aspect of Mary's life. She had an insatiable appetite for knowledge and found great joy in diving into different literary worlds. As a book lover, she often surrounded herself with a home library that served as a sanctuary for relaxation and exploration of new ideas.
One interesting passion that stood out about Mary was her fascination with cows. Her appreciation for these gentle creatures brought smiles to those around her.
Mary's kind and warm hearted demeanor touched the lives of many, but it was her unwavering friendship that forged deep connections and lasting memories. She leaves behind a trail of devoted friends who will cherish the moments they spent together. Denise (Richard) Swint, Elaine Jones, Debbie Brooks, Brandon and Andrew (Ashley) Swint, and their children Kyler and Emery Swint were joyous recipients of Mary's love and friendship. She also leaves behind beloved cousins and extended family.
As we grieve the loss of Mary Margaret McDaniel, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived. Her legacy of compassion, dedication, and love will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.
Visitation services honoring Mary's life will be held on October 29, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Raymer - Kepner in Huntersville, North Carolina. The address is 16901 Old Statesville Rd.
A burial service will take place on October 30, 2023, at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, Virginia. The service will begin at 1:00 PM. The address is 1250 E Main St.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in memory of Mary to a charity of your choice.
