Mr. Mark Thomas Gordon, 55, of Huntersville, NC died Sunday September 4, 2011 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House. He was born January 21, 1956 in Quincy, IL to the late Dr. John William Gordon and Charlene Buckman Gordon. Mark graduated from Western Illinois University with a B.S. in Animal Science and a minor in Chemistry. Mark began his career in genetics while working at Dekalb Ag Research in 1978. He later became a chemist with H.B Fuller Co. in Palatine, Illinois. In 1991, Mark moved to Huntersville, NC and worked at BASF Chemical Corporation earning a U.S. Patent for his work with adhesives. He loved animals, frequently volunteered at the local Humane Society, and always had a rescue dog in the house. Mark also loved to help people and was an active volunteer at Lake Forest Presbyterian Church and with Habitat for Humanity He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Beverly Ann Gordon; sons, David and Bradley Gordon of Huntersville; brother, Matthew Gordon of Quincy, Ill; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Lauren, and Olivia Gordon. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 7 at Lake Forest Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mike Moses officiating. Burial will follow at Northlake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at a reception at Lake Forest Presbyterian Church after the burial service. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Charlotte.
