Marion Phipps Dobbin,98, of Davidson died in her sleep on November 22, 2014. Born on June 21, 1916 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Mark Phipps and Mary Evelyn Brown, she is also preceded in death by her sister Catherine Jessup. Mrs. Dobbin lived at her beloved home on Lake Ontario and in Webster, NY for 40 years working as a medical librarian at Rochester General Hospital for 30 years, after receiving degrees from Lake Forest College and SUNY at Geneseo. After she, and her late husband Robert R. Dobbin, retired to The Carolinas, they became original residents of The Pines at Davidson when it opened in 1988, where she remained for 26 years. Mrs. Dobbin is survived by her daughter Lynn Kopf and husband Peter of Davidson, granddaughter Jennifer Plaxe of New York and grandson Robert Kopf and wife Fran Melmed of Philadelphia and by great grandchildren, Abbi and Kate Kopf and Amanda and Colin Plaxe. She also is survived by her beloved Sheltie, Ruff, who along with gardening the grounds of her cottage brought her great joy in life. A memorial service will take place 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3 at the Davidson College Presbyterian Church's Lingle Chapel.
