Margarita Lopez

Margarita Gonzalez Lopez, 87, of Northbrook, IL passed away on March 1, 2024.

Margarita was born in Madrid, Spain on April 21, 1936 to the late Eduardo Gonzalez de la Peña and Irene Más Candela. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Enrique M. Lopez, MD.

Margarita created a legacy of love, warmth, and grace that touched the very hearts of everyone fortunate to know her.  Her fierce love for family knew no bounds and she took great pride in sharing their accomplishments with others.

Margarita’s garden was a testament to her care and devotion to all living things. When not tending to her roses, she could be found dancing and singing along to her favorite Spanish music in the kitchen or charming shoppers at Lord&Taylor where she was a top sales associate for over 35 years.

She is survived by her 5 children: Olga (John) Hendrickson, Reenie Lopez, Henry (Stephanie) Lopez, Jennifer (Dave) Statis, and Kathy (Jason) Fickes; 10 grandchildren, great-grandson, and multiple granddogs for which she always had a treat ready.

While our hearts ache with the loss of Margarita, we take solace in the memories of a life well-lived and filled with love, laughter, and grace.  May her memory be a source of comfort to those who knew her.

Services will be held at a later date in Longboat Key, FL.
