Margaret Moore McManus

June 13, 1926 — October 9, 2016

Margaret Moore McManus, 90 of Cornelius N.C. and a native Charlottean passed away Monday October 9, 2016 in the Huntersville Hospital. Margaret was born in June of 1926 and attended Oakhurst School in Charlotte. After school and prior to marriage she worked for Southern Bell. In 1946 she married George W. McManus Jr. also of Charlotte. After raising their four children Margaret full?lled her lifelong dream of going back to school. She attended UNC-Charlotte where she received two Masters Degrees in early childhood development and counseling. After graduating she opened her own business, Counseling and Educational Associates, helping children with learning disabilities. Unfortunately, her career was cut short when as a pedestrian she was hit by a truck and severely injured in 1986. In May of this year George and Margaret celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary in Cornelius with family and friends.  

She is survived by her husband George W. McManus Jr and their four children Vicki McManus Hildebrand and husband Skip, Jan McManus Beasley and husband Trey, George W. McManus III (Macky) and Susan McManus Rossie, ?ve grandchildren, Alison McManus Collins and husband Zak, Devon McManus Barbaro and husband Ryan, Margaret Rossie Jones and husband Chris, Nicholas Rossie and Will Rossie and eight greatgrandchildren Natalie and Benjamin Collins, Dane, Andrew, Mae and Nora Barbaro, Ella Rossie and Harrison Jones. She is also survived by her siblings Colleen Beatty, Sue Wallace, Henry Moore and Billie Biggers.

Visitation is from 12:00 to 1:00 at Amity Presbyterian Church at 2831 North Sharon Amity Rd in Charlotte on Thursday October 13, 2016 with a service to follow in the sanctuary. A private family graveside service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park. The family request in lieu of ?owers donations be made in Margaret’s name to the charity of church of your choice.
