Margaret C. Holland, 99 years old, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2017, of natural causes at her home in Denver, NC.
Blessed with the prediction of a long and healthy life, Margaret was born with a caul on August 16, 1918, in Portsmouth, VA, to Etta and John Cwalino.
Following WWI, the family moved to Philadelphia, PA, where she grew up with her three brothers: Bud, John and Bob. The family spent summers at a bungalow they purchased in Avalon, NJ, which was one of the greatest joys of Margaret’s life.
Margaret loved her job of 30 years as a secretary at the Budd Company in Philadelphia from which she retired at an age early enough to enjoy many years as a Sweet Adeline. She traveled the world alone and with family members.
Eventually Margaret relocated to North Wildwood then Cape May, NJ, where she had a fulfilling life near the ocean and partaking of the salt air, the sea, with long walks and biking on the “boards” well into her 80s.
Margaret is predeceased by her brothers and her beloved son Michael. She is survived by her loving family: daughter, Patricia Travers; granddaughters: Sandy and husband Michael Cran and Danielle Howes; and great-grandchildren Nate and his wife Courtney and their son Cash; Tatiana, Jake, Andrew and Mikayla.
A memorial will be attended in the future by immediate family at her beloved seashore in New Jersey.
