Mrs. Margaret Una Hager Camelo of Denver, NC passed away on Monday July 21, 2014 at Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas, NC. A service to celebrate her life will be held at Salem United Methodist Church, 378 N. Pilot Knob Road, Denver, NC on Wednesday July 23, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Dave Hobson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. in the Church. Margaret was born December 9, 1920 in the Old Burton Plantation House which was located on what is now Governor's Island in Denver. She was the only child of the late Katie Moose and Marion Hager and was also preceded in death by her husband, Dominic Camelo. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Gayle and son-on-law Jackie Stroupe ; grandson, Sheridan Stroupe and his wife Mandy; great grandchildren, Eden, Brennan and Levi; grandson, Devin Stroupe and his wife Mariel and great granddaughter soon to be born. Margaret and Don lived in Hammond, LA after they were married in 1945 but moved back to North Carolina in 1947. She retired from Union Carbide (Dow Chemical) in Charlotte in 1979 after 31 years of service. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, attended Sunday School class and the UMW Willing Workers. She played in the Senior Citizen Band at Sherrill's Ford and the "Goofy Girls" band. A Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, a very best friend, a traveler and a lover of all the beautiful things in life, she will be missed. Her family would like to give special thanks to Ethel Combs, her caretaker and friend, Stanley Total Living Center and Robin Johnson Hospice House for their care of this beautiful lady.
