Margaret Gordon Beatty

Margaret (Peggy) Gordon Beatty, 88, of Charlotte, NC passed away on December 27, 2021.  Peggy was born in Charlotte on May 18, 1933 to the late Margaret Williams Gordon and Lonnie Wingate Gordon. 

Peggy grew up in Charlotte, NC in the historic Plaza Midwood neighborhood.  She graduated from the old Charlotte High School, class of 1951, and attended Limestone University.

She was a devoted homemaker and mother to three sons and a daughter.

Her career for many years was overseeing the development of her four children. She also was a part-time Administrative Assistant and later spent 17 years as a Travel Consultant. At that latter time, she was a member of Charlotte’s Professional Women in Travel.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her younger sister, Jenny Gordon Bullard; youngest son, Patrick (Paddy) James Beatty; and husband, Harry C. Booker.

Peggy is survived by three of her four children, Michael G. Beatty (Charleston SC);Henry F. (Frank) Beatty Jr. (Ruth, Charlotte NC); Katherine T. Beatty (Bluffton SC);two grandsons (Tyler & Connor Beatty of Charlotte NC), two granddaughters (Caroline Scout Beatty-Low of Allen TX & Maggie B. Engel of St. Clair MO), and two great granddaughters (Elliana Dingledine & Abigale Engel of St. Clair MO).

The times she valued most were spent with her late husband, Harry, her children and grands. She was a cherished friend to many of her classmates, neighbors and best friends.

In honor of Peggy’s wishes, no services will be planned. She wanted only to be remembered as a gracious, loving, and funny Southern Lady, faithful to all her life-long friends & family.
