Mamie B. Gibson

Mamie Barnette Gibson, 91, wife of the late Joe Floyd Gibson of Stumptown Rd. Huntersville, NC accepted her invitation to heaven June 5, 2016. Mamie was peacefully at the home of her eldest son Floyd Russell Gibson in the tranquil mountains of NC.

Mamie passed from old age and was lovingly surrounded by her children Cynthia Gibson Shepherd, Linda Gibson Gant and David Gibson. Mamie was born June 11, 1924 and is survived by her two brothers Hughie Barnette of NC and Sterling Barnette of FL. Mamie was very blessed with 13 Grandchildren, 21 Great grandchildren and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren!

Mamie is the loving daughter of the late David R. Barnette and Bonta Ferrell Barnette and the sister of the late Eugene Barnette and Marshal D. Barnette (MD). Mamie was known for her fabulous community Sunday dinners and as a teenager loved to play basketball!

The Viewing and Funeral is going to be at Asbury United Methodist in Huntersville, NC on Friday June 10, 2016 at 1:30PM and 2:30PM respectively with the internment following at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Cornelius, NC.
