Mae Horton Clemmer, 67, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday January 3, 2014 at CMC North East. Mae was born December 9, 1946 in Charlotte to the late Carl and Ella Mae Greene Horton. She graduated in 1965 from North Mecklenburg High School. Mae worked for Hartford Insurance for 35 years and was a member of the Hornet's Nest Antique Car Club, American Legion Women's Auxiliary and Gold Star Mothers. She enjoyed working the Charlotte Auto Fair and traveling with the club. She was a member of the Friendship Bible Class of Northside Baptist Church and also served on the Prayer Shawl Ministry. Mae also cherished her times hosting the family children's Christmas party. Mae leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, David Clemmer; sons, David M. Clemmer and fiancé Tina, Joey Clemmer and wife Shannon; grandchildren, Hunter and Peyton Clemmer; brothers, Larry Horton and wife Jan, Jack Horton and wife Lydia; sisters, Shirley Smith and husband Clyde, and Carolyn Phillips and husband Dan. Along with her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her sister Frances McKinney. The family will receive friends at the Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville on Sunday January 5, 2014 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday January 6, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Northside Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC. with Rev. Steve Goode officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice or the Scholarship Fund of Hornet's Nest Regio AACA, 9307-H Monroe Rd. Charlotte, NC 28270 Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family. Friends may offer condolences to the family at www.raymerfh.com.
