Louis Eugene Genett

October 29, 1944 — February 4, 2025

Louis Eugene Genett, Jr, 80, of Denver, North Carolina passed away on February 4, 2025. Louis was born on October 29, 1944 in Alexandria, Louisiana to the late Louis Eugene Genett Sr and Lynn Richie Genett. Louis left a legacy of kindness through his generosity and authentic love for people. He will always be remembered for his positive outlook on life and a smile that would brighten any room he entered. Louis was a Stephens Minister through the Methodist Church and an avid golfer with a genuine love for the game. Louis thoroughly enjoyed all of the years of being an annual volunteer for the Wells Fargo PGA Golf Tournament. He loved his golfing community of Verdict Ridge in Denver, NC, and was an active member on the Homeowners Association Board.

Louis had a love for the Hawaiian Islands, living in Kauai from 2003-2011. During this time he served on the Board of Directors at The Cliffs at Princeville and volunteered in the public school system teaching personal finance. His love for the game and the beauty of the islands had him golfing often on island golf courses. Louis had a big impact on the lives of those who knew him, that stretched even further, to those who might not have known him personally, but felt they did through his inspiring acts of kindness. Louis loved Jesus and would often share his Faith in his daily conversations. His passion for life, love and others was most definitely contagious.

Louis served his country in Vietnam. Before being deployed to Vietnam, Louis married his high school sweetheart, Jane Flattery, on August 18, 1965 and they were married for 52 years before Jane’s passing in 2017. Together they had 3 children. Following service in Vietnam, Louis moved into a 50 year career as a Financial Planner with Prudential Financial where he was honored in 2024 with his induction into the Prudential Hall of Fame.

On October 3, 2020, Louis married Linda Gilley, Charlotte NC. Together they resided in Denver NC. They experienced life to the fullest, attending many live music concerts together, taking trips to Charleston, SC and even took a Viking Cruise in 2023 through Germany and Switzerland. Some of their most memorable times were spent on their back deck with a cup of coffee talking about life and future together.

Louis is survived by his loving family; wife, Linda Genett; his children, Michael E. Genett (Denise), Courtney Shaw (John), and Matthew Genett (Kristen); grandchildren, Jenna (Chris), Joshua, Katie (Dylan), Abigail, Madison, Conner, Kylie, Emma, Jacob, Mia, Mason, Lily, and Lucy; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Delilah, Antonio, and Ceci; sister, Ali Stout and her children, Johnny, Spring and Josh; brother in law, William Robert Flattery (Mie); niece, LeAnn; nephew, Bryan; nephew, Joshua; his survivors from his marriage to Linda include Blake (Brittany) and their child, Evie.
