Lois M. Black

September 4, 1925 — December 23, 2015

Lois Black 90 of Charlotte, NC passed away on Wednesday December 23, 2015.  She was born September 4, 1925, the daughter of Spencer and Ruby Hubbard.  Lois attended Derita High School and went on to work in various positions at Highland Park Mill.  Lois married the love of her life Thomas Rothie (T.R.) Black and they had nearly 50 years together.  They built their own home, planted gardens, and raised two sons on the original Hubbard Road (named for her Mother) property.  Theirs was an ordinary life and they filled it with hard work, faith, love , and laughter.  Lois was frugal and brilliant at finding ways to save money so her family would have the extras they needed or wanted (always supporting her three guys’ love of cars)!   She worked tirelessly in her church and was honored as a Lifetime Member of the Women of Williams Memorial Presbyterian Church.  She visited the sick or shut ins as long as she was able and until 2014 was frequently seen walking down Hubbard Road making sure it was trash free.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, T.R., sisters, Govanna Miller, Maizie Sharpe, Renee Perry, and brothers, Don and Ted Hubbard.  Lois is survived by her children Reggie Black and his wife, Suzie, Thane Black and his wife, Diane and three granddaughters, Donna, Jessica and Erin Black ,  sister Judy Earnhardt and many nieces and nephews.  The service to celebrate Lois’s life will be held at Williams Memorial Presbyterian Church on Saturday December 26 at  3 pm.  The family will receive friends following the service at the Church Fellowship Hall.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Donald Russ,  Bobbie Jo McDonald, RN and the Hospice Staff,  and the staff at The Laurels for their care and support.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, NC or Shriners Hospital for Children in Greenville, SC or Williams Memorial Presbyterian Church or to Hospice.
Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home is assisting the family, friends may offer condolences to raymerfh.com
