Mrs. Lillian Peachy Dardnelle James Rawdon, 95, of the Derita Community in Charlotte, NC died Wednesday May 25, 2011 at Olde Knox Commons, Huntersville, NC. She was born February 16, 1916 in Charlotte the daughter of the late Coralee Godfrey James and Royal Domestic James. She graduated from Derita High School in 1934 and then graduated from Geyers Business School. She worked in the Charlotte City Agents Office and later at Iveys Department Store. In 1936 she married George W. Rawdon and spent most of her life as a homemaker. She was an excellent cook and her family and friends especially enjoyed her homemade pound cakes. As long as her health allowed, she was an active Baptist church member. Her church Northdale Baptist Church was near and dear to her heart. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 Friday, May 27 at Northdale Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Smith officiating assisted by Rev. McCray Holmes. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour (1:00 to 2:00) prior to the service. She is survived by her two sons, Warren Rawdon of Charlotte, NC and M.R. Rawdon and wife Martha of Concord, NC as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Rawdon; brothers and sisters, R.D. James, Jr., Harvey W James, Margery J. Berry and Virginia J. Crawford. The family wishes to thank members of Northdale Baptist Church, Olde Knox Commons and Hospice of Lake Norman for the excellent care give to Mrs. Rawdon during her declining health.
