Leslie Calhoun McNamara, 50, of Cornelius, NC passed away on May 3, 2014, with her family by her side. Leslie was born May 11, 1963 in Shelby, NC. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Patrick J. McNamara and daughters, Shannon and Madison McNamara, of Cornelius, NC; her twin sister Beth Lorey of Cornelius, NC; her brother Robert Calhoun of Franklin, TN; and her parents Bob and Patsy Calhoun of Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Leslie grew up in Woodruff, SC. She was a 1981 graduate of Woodruff High School. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Art from Lander University in 1985. She taught art in the SC and NC school systems for 13 years, finishing her career at St. Marks Catholic School in Huntersville, NC. She is a member of St. Marks Catholic Church. After graduating college, Leslie became a member of the Artists' Guild of Spartanburg and was very involved in student art programs throughout the community. Art was a passion of hers that she loved to share with others. Leslie was very devoted to her family. She loved life and was a true inspiration to those that knew her. She enjoyed traveling abroad and spending time with family and friends on Lake Norman. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014, at St Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville, NC. The family will gather to receive friends immediately following the service.
