Leslie T Forrest

Leslie Trevor Forrest, 97, of Cornelius, NC passed away on May 10, 2016 at Maple Leaf Healthcare in Statesville, NC. He was born in West Midlands of central England on January 20, 1919 to the late Charles Ernest Forrest and Elizabeth Cooper Forrest. He enlisted in the Royal Navy just prior to WWII, seeing action against Italy, Germany, Japan and China ( pirates near Hong Kong after war). He married Betty Jo Aman in Philadelphia, PA in 1944 and moved to western NY state following the war. He was employed by Worthington Corp and it’s various successors in Wellsville, NY for 35 years, working with boilers and turbines and supervising the test floor.

Leslie was a past governor of Wellsville Moose Lodge and long time member of the Wellsville Elks Lodge. He was an avid reader and a lifelong supporter of the David A. Howe Library. Also, his interest in sports was evident early in life by his experience in English soccer, tennis and swimming.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Betty Jo; brothers, Ernie and Eric; and daughter-in-law, Beatrice.

Leslie is survived by his son, Bruce Forrest of Cornelius, NC; grandson, Scott Forrest, his wife Claire and sons Trevor and Hewitt of La Jolla, CA; grandson, Christopher Forrest, his wife Emily and son Travis and step-daughter Olivia of Mooresville, NC. He is survived by his nieces: Anne Pemberton of Stourbridge, England; Susan Forrest of Wolverhampton, England; Carol Burke of Groby, England; Helen Prince of Groby, England; Kim Baldwin of Wellsville, NY; Holly Ballance of Gaithersburg, MD; and Michele Shephard of Gaithersburg. He is also survived by his nephews: Andrew Brown of Stourbridge, England; Ivan Brown of Dudley, England; and Michael Baldwin of Wellsville, NY.

A service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Cemtery in Wellsville, NY on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 1:30 pm.
