Leonard Clarence McRee, 84, of Davidson, NC passed away on April 24, 2024.

Leonard was born in Newton, NC on December 22, 1939, to the late Clyde McRee and Iva Ikerd McRee.   Along with his parents, Leonard is preceded in death by his older brother Harry McRee.

 Leonard is survived by his wife Beverly McRee, son Jon McRee and his wife Beth, son Jason McRee, grandchildren Lily, Sophie, Will, Ben, and Jack.  Also his sister Sue Watson, brother Don McRee and his wife Priscilla, brother Sam McRee, and many more loved nieces, nephews, and other family members.

 A funeral service will be held at the Davidson College Presbyterian Church on Sunday, May 5th at 3 PM. Memorial contributions may be made in Leonard's memory to the Davidson College Presbyterian Church or to the Residents Fund at The Pines at Davidson.

 Leonard attended Newton-Conover High School and graduated with honors from N.C. State University in 1962.   After a tour of duty with the Army Corp of Engineers, he had a 32-year career with the Duke Energy Corporation, retiring in 1997. Leonard had many hobbies and interests, including gardening, woodworking, tennis, and skiing… but more than anything loved spending time with his grandchildren whom he adored. He was a devout and active member of the Davidson College Presbyterian Church.  Leonard was universally loved by all who knew him.  He never met a stranger and loved sharing hugs.
