Leon James Crump

Leon James Crump, 82, of Iron Station, NC passed away surrounded by his family on January 11, 2018. A native to Charlotte, NC, he was born on May 14, 1935 to the late Leonard Ervin Crump and Gertrude Pressley.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Claudette Crump.

He is survived by his children, Bobby Crump (Carol), Susan Metcalf (Rick); and Jamie Crump (Angie); grandchildren, Missy Johnson (David), Brandi Sheridan (Gabriel); Nikki Beal (Shane); and Alie Crump; great-grandchildren, AJ Johnson, Mackenzy Johnson,  Makayla Johnson, Drake Johnson, Brailey Sheridan, Olivia Sheridan, Miken Beal, and Keek Beal; and a great-great grandson, Benjamin Belinski. He is also survived by his step-children, Rhonda (Harold), Robert (Sheila), Kimberly Barbee, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Leon’s passion in life was golf, but he also loved and cherished his family and friends.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing checkers, and also loved classic cars.

A visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00pm on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the chapel at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Mike Davis and Pastor John Caldwell. Following the service he will be laid to rest at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. In honor of his love of the game of golf, the family ask that you wear your favorite golf shirt in remembrance of Leon.
