Len "Pudge" Chandler, 79, of Cornelius, NC passed away peacefully on Sunday March 10, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family, after a brief battle with cancer. Len was born January 28, 1934 in Pontiac, MI to the late Edwin and Dora Capling Chandler. Len had an active sports life in Brantford, Ontario. He was the Ontario Diving Champion, for six years he played in the Canadian Professional Football League and became the founding President of the Hamilton Tiger Cats Alumni. He was a member of the Brantford Sports Hall of Fame and spent his later years coaching youth in Ancaster Ontario. After seventeen years of working in the Carolinas he was retired from the cement business. Len was a devoted husband to wife Lois Margaret Crouch Chandler; and loving father to daughters, Kerry Rose Rathmann (Stefan) of Cornelius, NC, Genny Lee Kleiser (Wade) of Cornelius, NC; son Casey Edwin Chandler(Ann) of Huntersville, NC; brother, Bruce Brown (Kit) of Canada; special Pop to six grandchildren, Cody and Taylor Rathmann, Hagan and Quinn Kleiser, Ryan and Kane Chandler. He will be sadly missed by his two dogs Ace and Lucy. Along with his parents, Len was preceded in death by his sister and two brothers. A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday March 23, 2013 at the Rathmann residence 9119 Magnolia Estates Dr. Cornelius, NC The family would like to thank Presbyterian Hospital and Hospice & Palliative Care nurses for the loving care they received.
