Lawrence Goffredo

Lawerence Goffredo, 75, of Huntersville, NC passed away on February 24, 2016 in Charlotte, NC . He was born on May 22, 1940 to the late Antonio and Grazia Goffredo.

Lawrence was a graduate of William Paterson University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology and Public Safety. He was a member of the executive council of the Alumni Association. He was a dedicated and proud Police Officer for the city of Paterson, NJ for 25 years and retired as a Sergeant in 1993. He was a member of the PBA local #1, Honor Legion of NJ, NJ Italian American Police Officers, and a member of 1013 Charlotte Police Organization. Before joining the Police department, Larry worked for V. Otilio and Sons, then later got appointed to the Paterson Fire Department for one year and then joined the police department. Larry also served his country in the US Army, as a paratrooper in the 101st Air Borne Division. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed taking his family on vacations. Larry had a passion for opera and was an avid civil war buff.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, John, Carmine, Vincent, Donald, Joseph, Orazio; and sisters, Tena Cantisano, Rose Krouch, Anne Ashby.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Barbara DeRoos Goffredo; daughter Kelly Goffredo; sister, Rita (Ken) Schweighardt; brothers, Anthony Cosmo and William; sister-in-law, Terry (Joe) Goffredo; brother-in-law, Raymond DeRoos; sister-in-law, Jacqueline DeRoos; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many dear friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016  from 4:00-7:00pm at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC. A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00pm on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at St. Mark Catholic Church, 14740 Stumptown Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078.

In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Saint Jude’s Childrens Hospital or any Local Animal Rescues.
