William Lagette Goodrum, 87, of Cornelius passed away November 29, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Native to Cornelius he was born February 26, 1930 to the late Thomas and Mary Goodrum. Lagette was a member of the Mason Lodge #176 and the Don Bridger Sunday School Class at Mt. Zion UMC. He also served in the Army during the Korean War. He retired after 46 years as a plant manager with Rexham Corporation. But he will be remembered most as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his son, David Goodrum of Charlotte; his daughter, Judy Maples (John) of Mooresville; four grandchildren, John Adam Maples, Jennifer Maples Borja (Aaron), Jessica Maples Keller (Matt), Jack William Maples and fiancé Margaret O’Brien, one great granddaughter Joanna Alyse Borja and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents Lagette was preceded in death by his wife Polly, one daughter Becky, one brother and three sisters.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday December 2, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Mt. Zion UMC in Cornelius. A burial will take place immediately following the service. The church will host a reception at the Mt. Zion Family Life Center immediately following the graveside services.
