With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude, we share the passing of Kristina Korobova-Douglas, 42, of Denver, NC, on December 31, 2024. Kristina was a devoted wife, loving mother, beloved daughter, cherished sister, and faithful servant of Jesus Christ, whose life was a radiant example of selflessness, kindness, and love.
Kristina was born on January 17, 1982, in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, to Vasiliy and Lyudmila Korobov. At 16, through an exchange program, she was chosen by Jim and Jeannie Holt to come to the United States in 1998. She settled in Chico, California, where she attended Butte College and later Chico State. It was there, in 2002, that she met the love of her life, Ed Douglas. The two married in 2004 and began their life together, welcoming their three beloved children: Oksana (14), Svetlana (12), and Aleksei (11).
In 2021, Kristina and her family moved to Denver, NC, to build their new home and community. Kristina was a dedicated homemaker, finding her greatest joy in raising her children and creating a home filled with love, faith, and laughter.
Kristina was the epitome of grace, patience, and joy. She lived a life of service to others, always putting her family first and going out of her way to help anyone in need. Her kitchen was the heart of her home—a place filled with the comforting aromas of her incredible cooking and baking, a true love language of hers. Whether she was teaching her children, cheering them on at their sports events, or simply spending quality time with her family, Kristina poured her heart into everything she did.
Her faith in Christ was unwavering, guiding her every action and decision. As a member of Christ Community Church in Denver, she served faithfully, sharing her love and light with all she met. Kristina’s favorite verses—Philippians 4:6, 1 John 4:19, Isaiah 40:8, Numbers 6:24-26, and Jeremiah 29:11—were a source of comfort and strength to her and serve as a reflection of her deeply rooted faith.
Kristina is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Ed Douglas; her children, Oksana, Svetlana, and Aleksei; her parents, Vasiliy and Lyudmila Korobov; her brother, Igor Korobov; and her sisters, Alyona Sevieri and Yeva Korobova.
Kristina’s life was a beautiful testament to the power of love, faith, and selflessness. Her warm smile, compassionate heart, and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She reminded us to cherish our loved ones, make memories, prioritize family, and above all else magnify Christ.
A celebration of Kristina’s life will be held at Christ Community Church in Huntersville on January 11th, 2025. Visitation will start at 9:30am and the funeral will begin at 11am. In honor of her legacy, let us carry forward her example: to love deeply, serve others, and walk in faith.
