Kenneth Charles Nimphius

Kenneth Charles Nimphius, 93 of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. Ken was born in the Bronx, New York on June 22, 1922. He graduated from Christopher Columbus High School, attended Washington and Lee University and served our nation in the Army-Airforce during World War II in the South Pacific Theater earning the rank of Sergeant. The majority of his professional life was spent in the banking industry in the field of residential appraising. Ken loved God, family, friends, and his country. He also loved his many canine companions. He was a beloved father, grandfather,brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. Ken was an ardent New York Yankees fan, Chicago Bears fan, and University of Notre Dame football fan. He also loved to fish and spent countless hours on Peconic Bay fishing with his family. Ken is survived by his daughter Patrice (Frank) Lima with grandsons Michael (Tatiana) Lima and Guido Lima of Chicago, IL; and daughter Gail (Mike) Harris with grandson Clint of Charlotte, NC; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Along with his parents, Ken is preceded in death by the love his life, Eleanor and his brother Jim. In Lieu of flowers the family asks that donations in Kens memory be made to the Wounded Warriors Project Foundation at woundedwarriorproject.org The family will receive friends, Monday, September 7, 2015 from 9:00 am until 10:30 am at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 at the Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
