Kathryn McClure

April 18, 1934 — June 13, 2023

Kathryn McClure is remembered as a loving and passionate mother, sister, aunt, and friend who dedicated her life to her loved ones. She passed away on June 13th, 2023 at Atrium Health Charlotte at the age of 89.

Kathryn was born in Charlotte, NC on April 18, 1934. She was one of eight siblings - with two brothers and five sisters that preceded her in death- and appreciated the bonds of family throughout her life. Her son, Raymond Dove, was often the heart of many proud moments throughout her life.

With an unwavering belief in God's love and grace as the foundation for all things, Kathryn found solace in music as a member of Trinity UMC Choir for most of her life along with being a member of the gospel quartet called The Singing Witnesses up until the 90s. Even after her choir days were over, she carried this same love for music throughout her life. In her free time, Kathryn enjoyed reading books and crocheting intricate creations that she gifted to her loved ones.

Beyond music and crafting, Kathryn was perceived as an avid sports fan who never shied away from attending any event that caught her attention.  She was known to cheer loud and proud while standing for most of the game or event.  Her friends also knew better than to interfere with Kathryn's weekly ritual visit to the hair salon; if it was Friday, she could only be found sitting comfortably in the stylist's chair chatting about the week gone by.

Kathryn leaves behind more than just fond memories - she has left a lasting legacy of warmth and kindness with those she touched during her lifetime. Surviving members of Kathryn's family include her son, Raymond Dove (Olivia); niece, Tina Heatley (Mark), along with numerous loving nieces and nephews who knew her as "Kit Kat".

A memorial service to celebrate Kathryn's life will be held at Trinity UMC in Charlotte on Friday June 23, 2023 at 3:00 PM.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service from 2:00 - 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Choir in Kathryn's name at http://www.trinityumcofcharlotte.com/online-giving.php
