Karen Gail Mills Davenport

Karen Gail Mills Davenport, 56, of Statesville, NC passed away Friday August 10, 2012. Karen was born in Winston-Salem, NC on October 8, 1955 to Carroll Johnson Mills and the late Henry Clay Mills. Karen graduated from West Forsyth High School and Forsyth Community College where she earned her nursing degree. She was a retired RN. Along with her mother Carroll Mills of Mocksville, NC, she leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband Greg Davenport, of Statesville, NC, sons: Bill Konecy (Sarah) of Charlotte, NC and Michael Davenport (Jesalyn) of Charlotte, NC, brother: Gary Mills (Jenni) of Wilmington, NC, her darling granddaughter Lexi Konecy of Charlotte, NC, mother and father-in-law Elsie and Leonard Davenport of Winston-Salem, NC, sister-in-law Amy Davenport of Kernersville, NC, grandson to be born in October, Michael Leonard Davenport and her special companion Missy. Karen was a cancer survivor and a great supporter of the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation. She was a member of the Mecklenburg Community Church. Her favorite scripture was Proverbs 31: 30-31"but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise." We lost a beautiful spirit and heaven gained a special angel. Karen loved her family and found great joy in the times she could share with them. She had a heart of gold. Her compassion for others and the love she shared touched many lives. That love extended to her animals as well. If she could have given every homeless animal a home she would have found great joy in that. She loved unconditionally and gave of herself to make others happy. She loved the Lord and found great pride in being a "prayer warrior" with her Christian friends. She could not wait to get to heaven to enjoy eternal peace. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday August 15, 2012 at 12:00 noon at the Chapel of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, 16901 Old Statesville Rd., Huntersville, NC. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to your local Humane Society or Radiant Life Fellowship, P.O.
