Joseph Leon Childress

Mr. Joseph Leon Childress, 64, of Cornelius, NC died Friday November 12, 2010 at NorthEast Medical Center. Born March 30, 1946 in Bennettsville, SC he was the son of Beatrice Perkins Childress of Bennettsville and the late Austin Childress. He was the owner of B & C Print Wear, Inc. and an active member of the First Baptist Church in Charlotte where he was very committed to the Homeless and Jail ministries. Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday November 15 in the Chapel of Raymer Funeral Home with Dr. Mark Harris officiating. The family will receive following the service. In addition to his mother, Beatrice, he leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Susan Matthews Childress, daughter; Shawn McStravick and husband Stephen of Matthews, son Michael Dean Young of Charlotte, grandchildren, Michael Baker Young and Savannah Elizabeth Young, sisters Barbara Osborne and husband Ken of Mint Hill, Debbie Stewart and husband Don of Bennettsville and numerous nephews, nieces and extended family.
