Jorge Regueira, 80, of Denver, North Carolina passed away on February 1, 2023.
He was born in Havana, Cuba on October 12, 1942 to the late Jose Regueira Blanco and Maria Acosta Hernandez. In addition to his parents, Jorge was preceded in death by his brothers Jose, Cuzco, and Armando and sisters Migdalia, Edilia and Aida.
He is survived by his sister, Blanca and brother, Manolo; his children, Jorge Regueira Jr. and fiancé Kirstin Chmara, Daniel Regueira and wife Elizabeth Gray Regueira, and Jacqueline Regueira Regalado and husband Travis Regalado; grandchildren, Ashley, Victoria, Kayla, Ellie, Gabriel, Ava, and Jordan; and five great grandchildren.
Jorge Regueira was a brave, proud, strong and resilient man who endured an unimaginable journey from his home in Havana, Cuba to gain his freedom and build a new life here in the United States. He referred to himself as a “family man” and would often declare that his children were the greatest thing that ever happened to him. He lived life unapologetically and on his own terms until several years ago when he began battling dementia associated with Alzheimer’s. While it proved to be a cruel fate, he found comfort in living with his children and spent his last days fully surrounded by their love and care. He will be deeply missed and always remembered; we love you Papi…”This is the way to be”.
