Johnnie Gordon Summerlin

Johnnie Gordon Summerlin, 93, of Charlotte, NC passed away September 3, 2016 at the Hunter Woods Nursing Center. Mrs. Summerlin was born June 9, 1923 in Monroe, NC to the late Plummer J. and Connie Watkins Gordon. She is survived by her husband; James Lavaughn Summerlin; son, Paul M. Stikeleather and his wife Catherine; daughter, Nancy Kales and her husband Glenn; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathleen Robinson, Polly Haigler, Bonnie Outen and Lois Simpson; brother, James Gordon. Mrs. Summerlin was a long time member of Sunset Road Baptist Church. She is remembered for her love of God and her ease of laughter. She also enjoyed hosting Sunday lunches and visiting with family and friends. She was retired from Union Carbide.

A service to celebrate Mrs. Summerlin’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Sunset Road Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Bass officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until the time of service. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
