John Wofford Smith

John Wofford Smith was born on July 23, 1937 to Mack and Emily Smith in Mooresville, NC.

He was raised in Salisbury, NC and moved to South Florida when he was sixteen.

He lived at Baileys Glen in Cornelius.

He served in the Army and spent time in Korea.  After the service he attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical School.

John worked for Delta Air Lines in Atlanta, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale, where he retired after 31 years.

John is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy Smith; daughter, Laura, and son-in-law, Deron Vaughn; and three loving grand-children, Ryan, Matthew and Emilee Vaughn.

He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Brigman of Homestead, FL, Gwen Ward and brother-in-law, Jerry Ward of Lake City, Fl.

Mr. Smith’s service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, July 31, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church in Mooresville, NC where he was a member. Burial will be held prior to service at 9:30 am at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery in Cornelius, NC.
