Mr. John Robert Glassman, 73, of Charlotte died Friday June 24, 2011. Born February 9, 1938 in Omaha, Neb. he was a son of the late Robert Smith Glassman and Violet Phifer Glassman. John graduated from Cathedral High School in Omaha and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He was a student athlete at the University and is listed on the permanent team roster at the College Football Hall of Fame. He was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Wallace A. Wilkinson and retired from National Pork Producers Council as Regional Sales Manager. John was a life-long Husker football fan; however, John a.k.a. Thunder most favorite activity was watching his grandson, Jacob, play baseball. Memorial Services will be conducted at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Friday, July 1 at 2:00 p.m. with Father Joseph Mulligan officiating. The family will greet family and friends from 12:30 to 2:00 prior to the service He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Glendyne; sons, Brian, Greg and Jeff Glassman; beloved grandson, Jacob Glassman; brothers, Mike (Mary) Glassman, James Glassman; sisters, Cheryl (Larry) Dolesh and Sandra (Bill) Vanourney, as well as many cherished friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tom and Bill Glassman. John had a great love of God and Country, in lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
