John Paul Anderson, 71, of Stanley, NC passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 24, 2021. He was born on October 2, 1949 in Astoria, NY to the late Paul and Francis Anderson.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Stredronski; and grandson, JJ Anderson.
John is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Anderson; son, Michael Anderson and his wife Nichole; son, Sean Anderson and his wife Karin; grandchildren, Mikala, Ryan, Maxwell, and Ali Josephine Anderson.
He is also survived by his sisters, Denise Curren, Christine Anderson; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
John was married to his loving wife for 49 years. Together they enjoyed vacationing to the beach, a good bottle of wine, and always being with family and friends. John enjoyed giving back to his community through the Knights of Columbus. He was a member at St. Therese Catholic Church where he ushered for many years and volunteered on many committees. He loved sports, especially The NY Mets and NY Islanders. He even attended both World Series when the NY Mets won. He also enjoyed boating with his family and friends and loved any excuse to have a party.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 10:00 – 12:00 pm at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC.
A funeral mass will be held at 1:30pm on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville, NC. Following the service John will be laid to rest at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery in Cornelius, NC.
In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to Charlotte Rescue Mission and St. Jude’s Children’s hospital.
