John Edwin Abt

John E. Abt, age 71, passed away peacefully at his home on April 8, 2014. John was a lifelong resident of the City of Tonawanda where he served on the Police Force for 23 years prior to moving to North Carolina. He was a member of the Captains/Lieutenants Association, the Western New York Police Association and attended the FBI Academy. John loved so many things, but nothing more than his family and friends who he would do anything for. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elaine (nee Peters); son, John (Mari) Abt of Lower Gwynedd, PA; daughter, Janet (Glenn) Rogers of Huntersville, NC; Sister-in-Law Gloria (Jim) Galoppo of Grand Island, NY; Grandchildren Kayla, Rebecca, Evan, Ana Sofia, Alex and Jose Francisco and many nieces and nephews. There is no service planned. However, the family is asking that anyone who was lucky enough to be part of his life remember him at 8:00 pm on Sunday April 13th - whether it be by raising a glass, saying a prayer or mentioning a special memory.
