Joseph Edgar Magee, III, 77, of Kannapolis, NC passed away on March 8, 2021. He was born on December 9, 1943 in Fayetteville, NC to the late Joseph Edgar Magee, II and Bernice Sullivan Magee.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Auvalene Wilson Magee, sister, Sandra Magee Diaz and his loyal companion, Sugar.
He is survived by his daughter, Meg Magee; brother Bill (Mary) Magee; brother, David (Connie) Magee; brother-in-law Steve (Joyce) Wilson, nephews: Andre (Amanda) Diaz; Will Magee (fiancé Abbey), Matt (Pamela) Magee, Joseph (Allegra) Magee; nieces: Jill (Anthony) Sanford, Stephanie (Ken) Chen; and many great nieces, great nephews, family and friends.
Joe served his country in the US Navy. He was an active member at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Cornelius where he served as a deacon and church elder. He was a member of the Agape Sunday School class. Joe was also very well-known and active in his community through his memberships with the Rotary, Shriners, and Masons. Joe and Auva were shag dance enthusiasts. Joe served as President of both the NC Association of Shaggers and the Lake Norman Shag Club and was a member of the Sand Hills Shag Club.
Joe loved his family, friends, and time spent on Lake Norman. He was known as a funny and generous person who enjoyed entertaining, fishing, and telling stories even if they were not altogether true! After a successful career in construction equipment sales Joe and Auva established Magee Auction Company.

A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. 19920 Bethel Church Road, Cornelius, NC.
