Joan Doris Garn

Joan Doris Garn of Cornelius, NC passed away peacefully on February 26, 2024 at the age of 90. 

Joan was born October 29, 1933, in Rayland, Ohio, the daughter of the late John and Mildred Posgai. She was a member of Community in Christ Lutheran Church and was actively involved in various Bible study groups, Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and contributing her time in the church kitchen as well as volunteering with Angels and Sparrows Community Table. Her love for birds, especially hummingbirds, was evident in her daily care for them. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Paul W. Garn.

A Memorial Service honoring Joan’s life will be held 11:00 am Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Community in Christ Lutheran Church, Cornelius, NC with Pastor Michael Beery officiating. A family graveside service and burial will be held May 22, 2024 at Sherrodsville Memorial Garden, Sherrodsville, Ohio. 

Survivors include her daughter Lori (George) Van Horn, son Chris (Pam) Garn and cherished grandchildren Abby (Steve) Ellis, Jacob (Amy) Garn, Sam Garn and newborn great-grandson Bennett George Ellis.
