Mrs. Jo Ann Mann, 77, of Plainfield, Connecticut died Wednesday February 13, 2013 at her son's residence in Cornelius, NC after a brief illness. Born March 16, 1935 in Midland City, Alabama she was a daughter of the late Durham Dykes and Ruby Jewell Dunlap Dykes. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Fred and wife Ellen Mann, Timothy Mann and his fiancé Karen Mech, Fritzi Mann and her companion Rob Danis; grandchildren, Samantha Mann, Stephanie Mann and Katy Phillips and husband Jordan; sisters, Sue Jones, Betty Senn and Phyllis and her husband Dave McConnell; brother, Phil Dykes and niece, Nita Conley and husband Warnie along with many other cherished nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Mann and brothers, O.J. and George Dykes. Jo Ann was a homemaker, worked at the election polls, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW and loved being with her family and friends. She traveled through the south during the winter months to spend time with her family and especially enjoyed her adventures with Nita and her shopping trips with Dave. She was known by many and loved by all. We will always remember her for her many funny stories and quiet southern charm. Funeral Services will be private. There are no calling hours.
