Jewell Crowder Cox, 95 of Charlotte, NC, died October 10, 2015 at Morningside Assisted Living in Gastonia, NC. She was born June 5, 1920 in Fort Mill, SC to the late J. Pinkney and Alice McCorkle Crowder. She graduated from Fort Mill High School and Hollingworth Business School. She was a housewife the first part of her marriage which included helping with the dairy farm, gardening and sewing clothes. She later worked at Western Electric from 1961 until retirement in 1977. She was active in her church and community, having joined her church in 1943 becoming a life member. She taught Sunday School, was in the choir and was circle chairman. Mrs. Cox was also a volunteer at Presbyterian Hospital for a number of years, assisting in the heart unit. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years Clyde Woodrow Cox, Sr.; son, Larry Wilson Cox and granddaughter Sheri Lynn Cox, both of San Diego, CA. Survivors include daughter, Dianne Cox Laws and her husband Roy of Charlotte; son, Clyde Woodrow Cox Jr. (Woody) and his wife Cyndi of Iron Station; six grandchildren including: Don Lanham and his wife Robin of Charlotte; Dale Lanham and his wife Wendy of Charlotte; Megan Cox Frasure and her husband Eric of Denver, NC; Trey Cox and his wife Britney of Iron Station; Michelle Cox Cooper and her husband Michael of San Diego; Samantha Flowers of Spokane, WA, and eleven great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 3:30p.m on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Cooks Memorial Presbyterian Church with the reverend TJ Thompson officiating, with interment to follow. At the conclusion of the services there will be a gathering at the church for the family to receive friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Gastonia Hospice, P.O.
