Jessie Lee Gibson

Jessie Lee Gibson, 87, of Huntersville, NC passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Levine Dickson Hospice House. Jessie was born July 20, 1924 in Huntersville, NC to the late Bigham "Doc" Leroy Gibson and Mary Woods Gibson. He was a self-employed building contractor with Gibson-Winecoff Co. Jessie was a deacon at the Hopewell Baptist Church. He enjoyed baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves. A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Hopewell Baptist Church at 2:00 pm with Rev. Sammy Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at the First Baptist Church Cemetery, Huntersville, NC. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 7:00-9:00 pm at the Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home 16901 Old Statesville Rd. Huntersville. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Shinn Gibson and grandson, Travis Childers. Jessie is survived by his wife Alice Lowrace Gibson, daughters; Barbara Childers (James) and Martha Saunders (Vernon "Butch") both of Huntersville, NC, brother; Thomas Gibson, sisters; Catherine Haskins, Dorothy Gurley and Shirley Smith, grandchildren; Bryan, Marshall, Stacy, Cari, Kim, and Lee, twelve great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Hopewell Baptist Church, 18841 Davidson Concord Rd., Davidson, NC 28036 Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family.
