Ms. Jermayne Denny Cook, 63, died on January 13, 2013 of cancer at Levine & Dickson Hospice House. She was born in Surry County, NC, to parents J. W. Denny, Jr., and Margie Chilton Denny, both deceased. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from UNC Greensboro and her Master of Social Work from UNC Chapel Hill. She devoted nearly four decades to the service of others. In 2010, she retired from her position as executive director of St. Peter's Homes at McCreesh Place. Her compassion, grace, and goodness touched the lives of many. Jermayne will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Franklin (Jenny) Cook, of Charlotte, Spencer Cook (Emily Clark), of Durham; one brother, Dwight (Jean) Denny, of Florida; three nephews and their families; and many friends. Memorial services will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday January 19, 2013 with visitation prior from 1:00 to 1:30 P.M. at Whitaker's Chapel United Methodist Church in Pilot Mountain, NC, with Rev. Jack Lutz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Friday evening at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home.
