Jennifer "Jenny" P. Mulligan, age 52, returned home to be with the Father, on June 19th, 2014, in Charlotte, NC, after a long and graceful battle with brain cancer. Jenny was born in Richmond, Virginia, to Vincent and Peggy Paparella on April 2, 1963. She married Ray Mulligan in 1988 and together they have 5 children. As a child, Jenny was a loving, high energy girl. As an adult, Jenny loved the Lord with her whole heart and freely shared it. She had many friends and was an excellent listener. She humbly and authentically reminded everyone that God understood their problems and that He loved them. She adored her husband and felt that he was God's special gift to her. She put enormous love and energy into raising Godly children, homeschooling them and counseling them. She loved to cook and entertain and was a gracious hostess, organizing gatherings for family and her community. Jenny had a wonderful sense of humor and laughed and smiled freely. During her long battle with brain cancer, she accepted gracefully every challenge and all the indignities associated with her illness. Her family and friends are grateful for the times of meaningful and deep conversation they were able to have with her during her illness. Jenny is survived by her husband Ray, her five children, Charlie, Ethan, Tim, Grace and Joe, her parents, Vince and Peggy Paparella, her four sisters, Kathy Bunting, Maria Parker, Anne Paparella, Paty Kelly and brother Vince Paparella, her parents-in-law, Theresa and Bruce Newell and Thomas and Patricia Mulligan, and many nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her. She leaves behind many dear friends and a church community who loved and supported her throughout her life and during her illness. A memorial celebration of her life will take place on Sunday June 22nd at Crossway Community Church, 6400 Prosperity Church Road, Charlotte, NC at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow the memorial service at the church.
