Jeanne Marie Oesterle Bodkin

Mrs. Jeanne Marie Bodkin, age 94, died June 26, 2013 at Churchill Senior Living in Mooresville, NC. Mrs. Bodkin was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Durbin Bodkin to whom she was married for 44 years. Born in Seattle, WA on May 1, 1919 she was the eldest of Evelyn and Frank Oesterle's three children. The Oesterle family moved to New Jersey, where she spent her formative years. Mrs. Bodkin worked as a secretary for Western Electric before meeting her husband, Leonard. After World War II, they lived in South Bend, IN at the University of Notre Dame while Leonard completed his law degree. The family moved to Allentown, PA and later Pearl River, NY where Jeanne and Leonard raised four children. Mrs. Bodkin worked in the Pearl River Public School System and became PTA President. In 1973, she and Leonard moved to Greensboro, NC where she lived for 32 years. Mrs. Bodkin remained in North Carolina until her death. Mrs. Bodkin is survived by her devoted children, Susan Tompkins of Huntersville, NC; David Bodkin and his wife, Lee of The Woodlands, TX; Tom Bodkin and his partner, Bruce Arakelian of Charlotte, NC and Charles Bodkin of Davidson, NC. Cherished grandchildren are, Polly Jackson and her husband, Greg; Suzy Lang and her husband, Jamie; Jennifer Seeger and her husband, John, and Sean Bodkin and his wife Ryan. She is also survived by her beloved great-grandchildren: Austin and Kelsey Jackson, Eva, Jacob and Liam Lang, Tyler and Dylan Seeger, Jackson and Matthew Bodkin and several members of the Bodkin, Oesterle and Durbin families. A Memorial Mass was celebrated on July 6th at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Huntersville, NC. Interment took place October 5th in Brookfield, VT. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, www.alzfdn.org in her honor. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huntersville, NC is assisting the family.
