Jean Tarter Risley, born in Wellington, TX on August 18, 1934, has peacefully passed away at Autumn Care Cornelius. She leaves behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and kindness.
Jean was a proud graduate with a Bachelors Degree from Abilene Christian University in Texas, showcasing her dedication to education throughout her life. Her passion for learning was evident to all who knew her.
Known for her great sense of humor and gentle nature, Jean touched the lives of many. She had a special love for reading and bird watching, as well as collecting rare glassware and antiques. Her fondness for the desert and the South West brought her great joy, along with her adventurous spirit that led her to explore historic places in the western United States.
One of Jean's proudest accomplishments was being a life long member of The Church of Christ, where she found solace and community.
Jean is survived by her loving husband Del Risley of 68 yeas, her daughter Jyll Risley from Phoenix, AZ, and her son Derek Risley from Davidson, NC. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday April 4, 2024 at Lake Norman Church of Christ, 17634 Caldwell Station Rd., Huntersville, NC 28078.
