Jean Safford Moore

Jean Safford Moore, 88, passed away August 17,2012 in Huntersville, NC. Mrs. Moore was born in Corry, Pennsylvania on October 3,1923. She was the daughter of Elwin and Edna Safford. She survived her two sisters and brother also of Pennsylvania. Mrs. Moore received her nursing degree at the WCA Hospital in Jamestown, New York. During World War II she served at Camp Shelby, Mississippi and then John Gaston VAH in Memphis where she met John H Moore, Jr and they married in 1946. They lived in Memphis, Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville Florida as well as both Carolinas and retired in Merriam Kansas where her husband John died in 2001. Mrs. Moore moved to the Charlotte area in 2005. She is survived by her only son John H Moore III and his wife Nancy of Huntersville, North Carolina, grandchildren Wes Moore of Durham, NC and Brad Moore of New York City. There will be a private interment at Memphis Memorial Park. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family locally.
