Jane Mayhew

Jane Carolyn Auten Mayhew, 64, of Mooresville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family on December 17, 2024 after a long illness. Jane was born in Charlotte on March 27, 1960 to Glenn Boyd Auten and Dorothy Dare Traywick Auten. She grew up in Belmont during her elementary school years, and, after the death of her father, moved to Charlotte in 1969 after her mother was remarried to Charles Gerald (“Jerry”) Mauldin, Sr. 

Jane attended Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools and graduated from UNC - Charlotte in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She was employed in the healthcare field, first as a practice manager for Carolinas Healthcare System (now Atrium), and later as an Epic Application Senior Analyst for Novant Health.

Jane was an avid dahlia gardener and loved her dogs (she always had at least two). She enjoyed bowling, reading, going to the beach, playing the piano, listening to music, and hosting family gatherings. She was a natural comedian and always kept her friends and family laughing. Her life was one of joy, love, humor, and compassion.

Jane will be sorely missed by her friends and family. She is survived by her husband, Roger Mayhew, Jr., her son Walter Carter-Corker and wife Caitlin, her sister Glenda Auten Burch and husband Daniel, her sister Kelly Mauldin, her sister Cathy Mauldin Armstong and husband Steve, and her brother Charles Gerald Mauldin, Jr., her stepdaughter Courtney Pimentel and husband Christopher, her grandson Caden Pimentel, her niece Darian Jane Burch and husband Joshua Ziemann, her niece Caitlin True Burch and husband Adam Wojcik, her niece Jordan Harrell Richards and husband Clark, her niece Raina Harrell, her great nieces Josephine Jane Wojcik, Dorothy Dare Wojcik, and Ann Margaret Richards, great nephew Goodman Richards, her friends Barbara Harbin Simmons and Deborah Webb, and a multitude of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jane was looking forward to welcoming a new grandson due in 2025.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church at 164 Fairview Road, Mooresville, NC, 28117. The family would like to thank Drs. Justin Low and Justin Favaro for their care of Jane over the last two years.
