Mr. James Van Williamson, 64, of Charlotte, NC died Thursday October 6, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital. Born April 21, 1947 in LaGrange, Ga, he was the son of James Aubrey Williamson and the late Daphine Dale McGhee Williamson. He was a graduate of the University of Fairbanks, Fairbanks, Alaska and received his master's degree in engineering during his employment with Bellsouth. Mr. Williamson attended Officer Candidate School in Fort Carson, Co, was a US Army Veteran, entering as an Infantry Platoon Leader and serving as 1st LT in the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal and Bronze Star Medal. He leaves to cherish his memory his father, James A. Williamson and wife Joan of Winnsboro, SC; wife, Dale E. Williamson; daughters, Karen Isaacs and husband Anthony of Concord, Tracey Taylor and husband, Shawn of Kingsport, TN; grandsons, Zachary Isaacs and Jackson Taylor; step daughters, Gerri Bey and husband Trevor and Terri Wilkinson and husband Derek both of Fort Mill; sister, Roxanne Young and husband Larry of White Plains, Md; sister, Jennifer Lubic; brother, Chuck Lubic; niece, Michelle Williamson of IN. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Williamson. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family.
