James Lavaughn Summerlin

James Lavaughn Summerlin, 90, of Stanley, NC passed away peacefully on December 27, 2017.  James was born December 16, 1927 in Scott County, MS to the late Ortha Summerlin and Annie Wolfe Summerlin.  He was a machine operator for Piedmont Natural Gas for over 31 years and enjoyed working on anything mechanical.  He loved gardening, fishing and helping others.  James was a member of the Masonic Lodge 261 and a member of the Sunset Road Baptist Church for over 40 years.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie M. Summerlin.

James is survived by his step-daughter, Nancy Kales and her husband Glenn; step-granddaughter and her family; and Paul Stikeleather and his family of Scottland.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 1:30 pm at the Sunset Road Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC with Rev. Steve Bass officiating.
