James Forsythe Storrier, 73, passed away at his home in Denver, North Carolina on March 8, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.
James was born in Rochester, NY on March 26, 1946 to the late James Storrier and Vivian Storrier. James (Jim, Jimmy) grew up in Pittsford, NY where he attended school and graduated from Pittsford Sutherland High School. Jim earned a Bachelor’s from Rochester Institute of Technology and served in the Marine Corps. He died from complications stemming from exposure to Agent Orange Dioxin while serving in the Vietnam War.
Despite his service in the Marines in Vietnam, Jim lived his life as a pacifist, focused on clean and minimal living with a small carbon footprint. Jim loved to run marathons in his youth and play golf, meditate, fish and hike in the woods, as well as kayaking and canoeing, he loved the outdoors and shared that love with his family.
James F. Storrier was predeceased by his fiancée, Christine Gross of Rochester NY, and granddaughter Zoe May Dretto of Rochester, NY. Jim is survived by his children, Corinne (Joseph) Dretto, Ryan Storrier, and Kristen (Robb) Little, who were with him when he passed under the care of his youngest daughter Kristen, a nurse. The family is comforted by the fact Jim (Dad) is no longer in pain and is finally at peace. Jim is also survived by his grandchildren Aiden Wheaton, Morgan Dretto, Caiden Dretto and Samuel James (SJ) Little; nephew, Matt (Natasha) Buck and niece, Maggie (Pete) Holland, as well as his sister, Barbara (Rick) Buck.
A Funeral Service/ Memorial Service will be held at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home on Thursday March 12th at 2:00 pm, 16901 Old Statesville Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078. Jim’s ashes will be interred with his Mother, Vivian Storrier, at White Haven Memorial Park in Pittsford, NY in June of 2020.
