James E Seacord, Jr

James E. Seacord, Jr, 87, of Denver, NC passed peacefully June 23, 2011 at home with family. Jim was born December 18, 1923 in Charlotte, graduated from high school in Greenville SC and spent 2 years at Clemson before enlisting in the Army Air Force. He was a 2nd Lieutenant B-24 Liberator pilot of the 801st/ 492nd Bomb Group Carpetbagger earning the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal American Campaign Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Campaign and WWII Victory Medal. He returned to Clemson graduating in 1947 with a BS in Textile Engineering and spent a career in the textile industry. Jim spent his time delivering Meals on Wheels and working in his garden. As a charter member of St Peter By-The-Lake, he was a man of great integrity, strong faith and was deeply respected by all who knew him. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Jane; son, James E. Seacord III and wife Susan; daughter, Barbara Seacord Hurt and husband John; granddaughters, Brandon Seacord Wells, Erica Seacord, Ashton Seacord Myers and great granddaughter, Haiden Myers.
