James Eugene Rogers, 90, of Huntersville, NC pased away Thursday, June 21, 2012. He was born July 25, 1921 in Rowan County, NC to the late Fred M. and Maude Stinson Rogers. He was a member of the Huntersville High Class of 1939. He served in the military during WWII. In 1983 he retired from the City of Charlotte after 32 years of service during which he received many safe driver awards and was selected the "City Employee of the Year 1978". He was married to Novem Ervin Rogers for 56 years until her death in 2002. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Charlotte. He was a member of the Yountz-Hough sunday school class and was active in the Methodist Men and Senior Citizens until he became ill. James loved and was devoted to his family. He was a friend to all and will be greatly missed. A service to celebrate the life of James will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 in the sanctuary of Trinity United Methodist Church, 6230 Beatties Ford Rd. Charlotte, NC with Rev. Wade Ogle officiating. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte. The Rogers family will receive friends on Monday, June 25, 2012 from 6:30-8:00 pm at the Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC. Left to cherish and honor his memory is his son Michael E. Rogers (Pattie) and daughter Katherine Rogers of Huntersville; brother Fred Rogers of Charlotte, grandchildren; Tracy Shirlen (Tim) of Kings Mountain, NC, Michelle Grill (Steve) of Hebron, KY, Dean Rogers (Stacey) of Charlotte, and Eliana Rogers of Huntersville, five great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
