The burial will be held at Salisbury National Cemetery, 202 Government Road, Salisbury, NC, 28144 at 11:00 am.

James Mayes worked as an Iron Worker under Local Union 580. He loved most sports, especially college football and basketball. His favorite teams were the Chicago Bears, Cleveland Cavaliers, Alabama Crimson Tide and North Carolina Tar Heels He loved to cook and was a BBQ grill master. James Mayes was devoted to his wife and his children. He was a very spiritual individual and became an ordained Deacon at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Newburgh, NY. He was a faithful member of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church, Brooklyn New York, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Newburgh, NY, and New Beginnings Community Church, Matthews, NC.
