James B. Godley (Jimmy), 81, of Cornelius, NC passed away on August 19, 2018.
Jimmy was born in Charlotte, NC on May 27, 1937 to the late Chick Godley and Margaret Godley.
Along with his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Godley.
He is survived by his brother, Frankie Godley; sons, JB Godley, Jr. and spouse Cindy, Doug Godley, Ken Godley and spouse Gigi; daughter, Sandi Godley; grandchildren, Matthew Godley, Victoria Weldon and spouse Jared, Cole Godley, Ava Godley, Carson Godley, Atalie Godley, and Preston Godley.
Jimmy started working at Godley Auction in 1952. He was known and respected for his expertise in the farm machinery and construction equipment industry. Jimmy enjoyed turkey shooting, hunting, gardening, boating, fishing, and racing. He was also a founding member of the Stumptown Antique Tractor Club.
A visitation will be held from 7:00 – 9:00 pm on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Forest Lawn West in Charlotte, NC. There will be a celebration of Jimmy’s life immediately following the graveside service at his home.
Memorial Donations may be made in Jimmy’s name to Hospice of Greater Charlotte.
