James Alexander Blythe

February 19, 1945 — November 4, 2022

James Alexander Blythe departed his earthly home in on Friday, November 4, 2022. He was a resident of Riverstone Assisted Living of New Bern, NC. Preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Delores Blythe and one sister, Mary Blythe. He is survived by his sisters Beverly Blythe of Leland, Nancy Harding of Matthews, Deborah Allen of Stanfield, NC and one brother, Charles (Chuck) Blythe; daughters and grandchildren.

James graduated in 1962 from North Mecklenburg High. He signed a baseball contract the day after he graduated to play ball for the Minnesota Twins. He was a pitcher for two seasons at which time he was drafted by the United States Army. He served two years at Fort Hood, Texas and received an Honorable discharge. He worked in construction and electrical trades and he opened Blythe Electric Company in 1972. He operated the electrical business until his retirement in the late 90's. At that time, he moved to eastern, NC to be closer to his siblings.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 10, 2022 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church located at 8600 Mount Holly Huntersville Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078.
